A renaissance palace dedicated to celebrating all kinds of events.

Located in the historic center of Ciudad Rodrigo (Salamanca), Palacio de Montarco is a monumental building from the 15th century, one of the greatest exponents of Salamanca Renaissance civil architecture, and a national reference. It was declared a Property of Cultural Interest in 1958, it is part of the Spanish Historical Heritage and in 2009 it was fully renovated to host events.

During the Spanish War of Independence, the palace was used as general headquarters housing, among others, the Duke of Wellington, who was granted the title of Duke of Ciudad Rodrigo in reward for his valuable contribution to the liberation of the city from the French siege.

When visitors cross the threshold of Palacio de Montarco they encounter the charm of a building that is more than 500 years old and all the comforts of nowadays.

Ciudad Rodrigo

Ciudad Rodrigo was considered for centuries an important strategic place due to its proximity to the Portuguese border and was a decisive enclave in the Spanish War of Independence when it was besieged by Napoleon’s troops and reconquered by the Duke of Wellington in 1812.

The historic center of Ciudad Rodrigo is recognized for its architectural heritage and fascinating history. It is an exceptional case in Spanish geography since its rich Renaissance and Baroque architecture is joined by Roman, Romanesque, and Gothic vestiges, preserving its exceptional starry wall intact.

Among the most outstanding monuments of Ciudad Rodrigo, also known as Miróbriga since Roman times, are the imposing Cathedral of Santa María and the recently renovated Parador.

Ciudad Rodrigo was declared a Historic-Artistic Site in 1944.

Preiper Luxe offers support in hotel accommodation in the area.
